    Charge Controller:

    • Located within enclosure on the inside of the door.  Regulates charging voltage to the 12V battery.

  • Each internal sensor has its own measurements and data processing schedules:

Pyranometer: Solar radiation is measured every 10 seconds and records instantaneous values. When it asks the sensor for solar radiation data, the sensor outputs the average of the instantaneous values since last query.

Anemometer: Wind speed and direction are measured every 10 seconds and it keeps a running average of the last 10 speed measurements, the instantaneous speed measurement is rejected. Direction data (vector components) is instantaneous. When it asks the sensor for wind data, the sensor outputs the average speed and direction readings since last query and max wind speed instantaneous value for gust.

Vapor Pressure/Relative Humidity Sensor: Vapor pressure is measured every 60 seconds and records the instantaneous values.  When it asks the sensor for vapor pressure, the sensor outputs average since last query.

Rain Gauge: Water drops are counted continuously. Each drop is added to create an accumulated total. When it asks the sensor for precipitation data, the sensor outputs total accumulated rainfall (in mm) since last query.

Temperature: Air temperature is measured every 10 seconds and it records instantaneous values. When it queries the sensor for temperature sensor outputs average since last query.

Barometric Pressure Sensor: Barometric pressure is measured once every 60 seconds and records the instantaneous values. When queried, the sensor outputs the average of the instantaneous measurements since the last query.

    Limitations:

    • Snow and ice accumulation: The sensor is not heated and will not measure frozen precipitation. This can also affect solar radiation measurement and wind measurements.

    • Heavy rain and strong wind: During strong storms, water splashes may affect wind measurements.
